Blessing Number 20?

Without naming any names, I just read that a certain "famous" family is expecting numero 20.  Le Sigh.  Really?

I get the whole "freedom of religion" thing.  I'll even go so far to say that being from a big family can be a big blessing.  It can also be a hidden curse, of sorts, not to mention just one big pain in the ass.

I honestly think taking things to this extreme is patently irresponsible.  I'm sure this is lovely for the older children, who have yet another sibling of whom to take care.  Another mouth to feed, bath to give, nose to wipe.

And how about the risk to the baby?  The woman is 46 years old.  Her last pregnancy was not without it's problems, and this will be her 5th C-section.  I'm sure, being conservative Christian people, they are Pro-Life.  So why would you risk the life of this child?

Some call them (specifically her) courageous and brave.  I call it self-centered and self-serving.  They have no way of possibly knowing what it going on all the time with the children.  They force the older children to adopt roles for which they have neither the insight or maturity.  And they risk the life of yet another unborn child.

And for what?  For their own "gain", as it were.  Their piety.  Their own way of thinking they are better than the world.

This I cannot condone.  I can only keep their children in my thoughts as they deal with the repercussions throughout their lives.
